UN-Habitat Intern - Events and Outreach Jobs in Kenya
Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
ResponsibilitiesDaily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background, the interns' assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the direct supervision of the Public Information Assistant, the intern will:
Assist the team in organizing flagship events by overseeing logistics, preparing invitations, preparing lists of participants and other related tasks assigned.
Assist with writing, editing and communicating content, including newsletters, event announcements, web content and other targeted communications.
Contribute to developing work streams and event roadmaps to meet set targets on time.
Assist with the day-to-day coordination of events and communications (general liaison, setting up of online and in-person meetings, use of shared database, note taking).
Analyze received applications, and draft reports and guidelines.
Perform logistical support in the office, and liaise with other units or partners.
Assist with editing the registration database, particularly in MS Excel, with the creation of pivot tables and statistics.
Conduct web research as required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Monitors ongoing developments inside and outside the clients’ environment to keep informed and anticipate problems. Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects. Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent
Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office).
Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Preferred areas of studies:
International Relations, Global Affairs, Journalism, Economics, Public Affairs, Public Relations, Arts, or any other related field of study.
Work Experience
No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.
Experience in submitting timely and accurate reports/deliverables using MS Suite (PPT, word and excel) is required.
Experience in supporting meetings or events is desirable.
