Job Details: Undikumbukire Project Zambia (UP) is a Zambian human rights organization focused on juveniles in conflict with the law.
We help imprisoned juveniles obtain legal representation and social support, and we advocate for a more restorative justice system.
UP Zambia is seeking a Communications Officer to provide communications support to UP Zambia’s ongoing projects and further UP Zambia’s mission. This is a full-time position for a period of 10 months.
Location: Lusaka District with occasional travel .
Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Create and implement communication/visibility plans for UP Zambia projects
• Assist with planning project events such as workshops and sensitization events
• Manage UP Zambia communication channels including the organizational website, social media accounts, newsletters, and annual reports
• Oversee the design of communications materials such as brochures, posters, and videos
• Organize radio programs, podcasts, and other media opportunities
• Assist with writing project reports
• Assist with writing project proposals
• Manage compliance with visibility requirements for project communications
• Ensure all communication content aligns with our organization’s identity and message
• Work closely with team leaders and Executive Director to develop and strengthen employee engagement
activities
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, manage media inquiries, and prepare press packs, press releases, and other media enquiries.

Skills and Experience:
• Degree in Public Relations or Mass Communications
• Experience: 2 years preferred
• Knowledge of social media platforms, MS Office (including Power Point), Canva, website managers such as Squarespace
• Excellent verbal communication skills in English and local languages
• Excellent written communication in English
• Ability to manage tasks across multiple projects
• Excellent teamwork and people skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work in tight timelines
• Knowledge of human rights and child rights an advantage
• Preparedness to work outside normal working hours when required
• The ability to work in, and adapt to, challenging environment
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
