Organizational Context
The World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the WFP Finance and Administration Unit. The position will be based in Kigali, Rwanda. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from July 2022.
Job Purpose
The expectation for the internship holder with the G3 Finance Assistant level is to take responsibility for the completion of a range of finance/budget-related processes and activities requiring some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. To recommend a course of action to staff at various levels and to allocate tasks to other support staff.
The purpose of the job is to support the effective delivery of finance, budget, and administrative support services in order to facilitate transparent and efficient utilization of financial
resources.
Standard Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate programme from a recognized university and have completed at least 2 years of studies, preferably in Finance, Accounting or related fields.
Must have attended courses in the last 12 months
Recently graduated from a graduate programme (within 12 months) prior to application of internship programme
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
Fluent in English (both oral and written)
Key Accountabilities
Under the direct supervision of the National Finance Officer, the intern will be responsible for the following duties:
Maintenance of invoices in Invoice Tracking System up to send to Wings step, and monthly ITS reports for review by the Finance Officer
Support in the preparation of the monthly cash forecast
Billing fuel, private use of vehicles, telephones, travel and prepare related journal vouchers
Follow up on staff and third party receivables and payables, purchase requisitions and purchase orders open items
Participate in review of vendor master data regularly
Participate in the preparation of the semi-annual vendor balances confirmation.
Prepare monthly VAT claims to RWANDA REVENUE AUTHORITY.
Familiarize with the Financial dashboard.
Financial assessment for CBT.
Any other duties as required.
