Organizational ContextThe Malawi Country Office of WFP is seeking motivated and qualified candidates to enroll for the 2023 Internship Programme.
The position will be based in Administration division, Lilongwe. The internship will be for the period of 6 months from 1 June, 2023.
Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)
Under the close supervision of the Administration Officer, the job holder is expected to produce organized and accurate work and will undertake the following tasks:
Participate in several routine administrative tasks such as monitoring and ordering, ensuring we have adequate supplies for smooth running of the office.
Respond to simple routine queries with readily available support by senior staff, and escalate where appropriate, in order to provide a timely and accurate response to enquiries.
Support the maintenance of office files, documents and records in accordance with established systems and processes, so that information is current and readily available for staff.
Undertake standard data entry tasks in accordance with defined systems, to ensure information is organised and readily available.
Respond to routine queries received and escalate where appropriate, to provide a timely and accurate service to clients
Standard Minimum Qualifications
Education: Currently enrolled with in a graduate programme
and have attended classes in the past 12 months, or a recent graduate from a graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme). Preferred areas of study are: Public and Social Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, and Communications
Language: Excellent command of English is required; Working knowledge of a second UN language would be an asset.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

Strong drive, self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy
Ability to prioritize tasks and quickly adjust to different working environments Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
Proactive attitude, shows initiative and has a sense of accountability
Learning Elements:
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
Have a greater understanding of the World Food Programme’s administration function works
Have a general understanding of WFP overall administrative activities in WFP, as well specific details relating to facilities management and stationery supplies control.
Developed capacity on basic research on new innovative approaches and reporting
Strengthened report drafting and presentation skills.
