UMRA Manager Microfinance Institutions Jobs in Uganda

The Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) is a Government Agency established under The Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders Act 2016 and whose core business is licensing, regulation and supervision of SACCOs, Non-deposit Taking Microfinance Institutions, Self-help Groups and Community based Microfinance Institutions in Uganda.

The UMRA invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following position.

Job Purpose:

Ability to analyses the operations of Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) and ensure that the operations of Microfinance Institutions are in compliance with all laws as well as regulations that govern business practices.

The Manager will be responsible for reviewing responses to official customer inquiries and correspondence with government agencies to ensure that they are complete and proper.

Reporting:

  • The Manager, Microfinance Institutions will report to the Director Supervision and licensing..

    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • As an employee responsible for regulating Microfinance Institutions, the job description includes the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Manage and guide Compliance Officers to ensure Microfinance Institutions in the Country are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Analyze all in-force agreements and licences to make sure that each client is operating in their line of business.
  • Collaborate with management team to make sure that the entire Institution is aware of compliance requirements of Microfinance Institutions and issues.
  • Develop internal controls and policies designed to ensure that all compliance needs are met.
  • Conduct periodical meetings and workshops with clients to address their
    issues and concerns

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of current regulations affecting Microfinance Institutions
  • Conflict Management skills

    [Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Law, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant field.
  • Hons Bachelor’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Economics, Arts or relevant degree from a recognized University.
  • At least (6) year’s relevant work experience in a reputable and busy organization, three of which should be at Senior level.
  • Relevant certificates and professional qualifications are added advantages
