Uganda National Bureau of Standards - Senior Quality Management Officer Jobs

Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of
Trade Industry and Cooperatives responsible for standardization, Quality Assurance,
Metrology and Laboratory Testing (SQMT) with the objective of facilitating fair trade,
promoting local industries and Consumer protection.

UNBS is looking for highly motivated candidates, result-oriented and qualified professionals with integrity for employment on a three-year renewable contract depending on satisfactory performance to fill the posts below;

Senior Quality Management Officer

Reporting to the Principal Quality Management Officer, the successful candidate shall be
required to perform the following duties;

Establish a QMS database with an organization wide, harmonized documentation
and records management

Develop tools and solicit customer feedback through customer satisfaction surveys,
identify QMS deviations and suggest recommendations for improvements

Participate in preparations for international accreditation of UNBS services and ensure continuous compliance with the accreditation and certification requirements

Organize and coordinate training and re-training of auditors and assessors to
increase on the available pool

Undertake regular system audits and reviews for specific Departments or
interrelated functions across Departments to improve the quality of services and
maintain a satisfied customer base

Undertake staff trainings so as to manage staff skills development in the areas of
Quality Management Systems

Review, appraise and advice on the Quality plans for different Departments of UNBS

Assist Departments in undertaking corrective actions and deviations resulting from internal audits, management reviews and internal recommendations for
improvement.

Liaise with quality coordinators in the different Departments to ensure that they
effectively coordinate the activities of the quality management in their respective
units

Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly work plans and targets of all activities to be
undertaken and timely reports on activities

Qualifications

Should possess a post graduate qualification in Science field from a recognized
University/Institute

Honours Degree in a science field from a recognized University/Institution

Minimum

of 5 years’ experience in Standards, Quality Assurance, or quality control,
Standards Development or Laboratory Testing after graduation

Training in ISO 9001, 17025, 17021, 17065 and 19011 is an added advantage

Hands-on supervisory competencies with capacity to multi-task and deliver results
efficiently with minimal supervision

Proven people leadership and functional management competencies with hands-on
skills in Risk Management and internal controls in the functional areas

Must be computer literate with skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the
Internet applications

Age: Between 30 and 45 years

The successful candidate must have a high level of integrity and professionalism,
Communication, Teamwork and Analytical skills and needs to be a team player, an
excellent communicator with good oral communication and presentation skills.
