Job Title: Senior Investment Monitoring Engineer

Accountable to: Principal Network Investment Engineer.

Department: Technical Services

Duty Station: Head Office

Job Purpose:

Carry out assessment of Distribution System Investments Plans submitted by the Concessionaire and advise Management accordingly;

Liaise with the Regulator to carry out monitoring and evaluation of investments subsequently implemented by Concessionaire hence recommend those that can be approved to earn Return on Investments (ROI) as provided for in the Electricity (Transmission and Distribution) Investment Approval and Verification Guidelines

Principal accountabilities

Liaise with Concessionaire and Regulator to track the implementation of approved investment plan; carry out continuous monitoring and evaluation of added investments; report on their progress, completeness, and value-addition to the system, either on a Quarterly basis, or as and when requested by Management;

Carry out monitoring and evaluation of other grid-extension projects, e.g. as implemented by Rural Electrification Agency (REA), hence assess and report on their impact on the Distribution System;

Liaise with Planning Engineer/Team to analyse investment plans of Concessionaire hence report on key issues arising out of the proposed plans, and propose amendments as necessary;

Assist in compilation of monthly and annual reports on Unit activities in accordance with UEDCL policies and procedures.

Technical requirements/experience/qualifications (Degree in Engineering)

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;

Experience of not less than 5 years in the Power System Operations, Design/Planning, or Construction;

Additional postgraduate qualifications in either of Engineering, Finance or Project Planning and Management is added advantage;

Monitoring and evaluation skills;

Value-for-money analysis skills;

Certification in power distribution software like ETAP, Power master and others, will be an added advantage;

Computer, report writing and presentation skills;

Ability to coordinate and/or work as part of a multi-stakeholder team;

Valid driving permit
