Job Title: Principal Planning Engineer (Development)

Accountable to: Chief Technical Services Officer.

Department : Technical Services

Duty Station : Head Office

Job Purpose: To set up the Planning Unit for UEDCL, to develop and Manage Networks operations to cut down on energy Losses and help reduce the tariffs. Coordinates all the Sector Plans.

Principal accountabilities:

Timely development of plans to address quality of supply issues.

Develop asset performance database for the distribution network

Supervise Load flow simulations for the entire distribution network

Planning material requirement to ensure no stock outs

Overseeing the efficient planning of loss reduction projects in the region (both commercial and technical loss reduction projects)

Coordinating to ensure an updated Distribution Network in the GIS database

Planning and costing of non-standard services

Approval and commissioning of contractors works

Ensure Quality Assurance and Control (Value for Money on projects)

Support the achievement of the UEDCL’s cost and efficiency targets through efficient management of the regional capital expenditure.

Technical requirements/experience/qualifications (Degree in Engineering)

B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable Tertiary Institution.

8 Years Minimum Experience on Distribution Networks (Uganda Knowledge preferred).

Corporate Member of Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE).
