Job Title: Senior Lecturer-Pathology
Reports to:
Dean- School of Medicine
Purpose of the job
To carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the UCU School of Medicine
Main duties and responsibilities:
To teach at undergraduate level in areas allocated by the Dean of Faculty/Head of Department
To carry out research, teaching, mentoring, supervision and administration within the school.
To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.
To contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.
To assist in the development of learning materials and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
To supervise or assist with supervision of undergraduate, taught graduate (Masters) students.
To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
To participate in the development, administration and marking of exams and other assessments.
To provide mentorship, internship and support to students.
To participate in the administration of the department’s programs of study and other activities as requested.
To contribute to departmental, faculty and wide working groups or committees as requested.
To maintain own continuing professional development.
Any other official duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and experience
Must have a Master’s degree in Pathology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB) from a recognized institution of higher learning.
A PhD in Pathology () will be an added advantage.
Must have taught at university level for at least
three years at the rank of Lecturer.
Experience working as a Manager/Supervisor of a health related institution or a management position in the health sector will be an added advantage.
Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadliness.
Must show outstanding skill and effectiveness in teaching and in research, and supervision of undergraduates.
Must show professional growth as evidenced through membership to a professional body, presentation at professional meetings and consultancies.
Must have a minimum of two current scholarly article publications with a peer reviewed publisher OR at least one article and two book chapters.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Must be a mature and committed Christian.
