Uganda Christian University Senior Lecturer- Literature Jobs in Uganda

To carry out research, teaching and supervision of postgraduate students’ research, to teach and research in twentieth- or twenty-first-century British, American, or other Literature fields. Teach core courses at postgraduate and undergraduate levels in English Literatures, as well as coordinate research for postgraduate students in the Department.

Responsibilities

To teach at graduate level in areas allocated and review them from time to time.

To carry out research and produce publications or other research outputs, in line with personal objectives agreed in the staff review process.

To look for research funding support from within or outside the University.

To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.

To supervise graduate students.

To assist in preparing course syllabi and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.

To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.

To participate in the setting, administration and marking of exams and other assessment.

To provide pastoral care and support to students in line with UCU code of conduct.

To participate in the administration of the department’s programmes of study and other activities as requested.

To contribute to departmental, faculty, or UCU-wide working groups or committees as requested.

Any other official duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Must have PhD

in Literature from a recognized institution of higher learning.

Must have a Masters in Literature from a recognized institution of higher learning.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Literature from a recognized institution of higher learning.

Must have taught at university level for at least 3 (three) years at the rank of Lecturer.

Must have 2 (two) current scholarly articles published with peer reviewed publishers in the area of academic expertise OR at least one article and two book chapters, OR a book in one’s area of specialization with a peer reviewed publisher

Must demonstrate initiative and involvement in development of academic programmes

Must have supervised at least five (5) undergraduate Research students to completion.

Must be a mature and committed Christian.
