Turkana County Director Cooperative Development Jobs in Kenya



The County Director Cooperative Development will be responsible to the County Chief Officer in interpretation and implementation of existing co-operative development laws, rules and regulations and any other related laws that may be enacted to guide co-operative development function.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Providing technical advice on co-operative investments, finance, credit, marketing, project management, extension and advisory services;

  • Developing and ensuring implementation of policies;

  • Ensuring and enforcing compliance with co-operative legislations;

  • Designing, coordination and monitoring the implementation of co-operative activities;

  • Preparing and validating registration and deregistration of co-operative societies;

  • Monitoring co-operative societies liquidation process;

  • Developing education and training packages for co-operative movements;

  • Analyzing data for policy formulation;

  • Carrying out market research and disseminating research findings;

  • Promoting value addition and processing;

  • Undertaking co-operative risk assessment;

  • Developing new financial products, creating new policies and other co-operative ventures;

  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

    Requirement for Appointment

    For appointment in this grade, a candidate must have: -

  • Served in the grade of Deputy Director Co-operative Development for a minimum period of three (3) years or in any comparable and relevant position in the Public Service or Public Sector;

  • Bachelors degree in any of the following discipline: Co-operative Management, Commerce,
    Business Administration /Management, Agriculture, Economics, Statistics,
    Mathematics,
    Sociology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance, or Agribusiness or any other related field from a recognized institution;

  • Master’s degree in any of the following discipline: Co-operative Management, Commerce, Business Administration /Management, Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Sociology, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Engineering, Co-operative Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Management and Organizational Development, Finance, or Agribusiness or any other related field from a recognized institution will be added advantage;

  • Attended Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized institution; and

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability to relate them to the co-operative development function.
