Job Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the overall administration, management, and maintenance of the bank's database systems. They will work closely with the Manager ICT and other IT professionals to ensure the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of the bank's databases. The Senior Database Administrator will also provide technical expertise, guidance, and support to the database team.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management:

• Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the bank's database systems.

• Monitor database performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal performance.

• Implement and enforce data security and access control policies to protect the bank's data assets.

• Perform database backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and incidents in a timely manner.

Database Administration:

• Manage and maintain database systems, including software patching and upgrades.

• Develop and implement database policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Optimize database performance through performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.

• Conduct regular performance monitoring and analysis to identify areas for improvement.

• Ensure data consistency, integrity, and accuracy through regular data validation and cleansing activities.

Database Development and Support:

• Collaborate with application developers and system analysts to design and implement efficient database structures and schemas.

• Assist in the development and optimization of database-driven applications.

• Provide technical expertise and guidance to the database development team.

• Conduct database performance analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.

• Support application deployments, migrations, and upgrades
that involve database systems.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database systems, including configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

• Generate reports and metrics on database performance, availability, and security.

• Prepare regular status updates and progress reports for management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator, preferably in a banking or financial services environment.

• Strong knowledge of database management systems, such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL.

• Proficiency in database administration tools and utilities.

• Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.

• Familiarity with database security principles and best practices.

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
