TradeMark East Africa Civil Engineer Jobs in Kenya
The job holder will act as project manager for all TMEA – funded infrastructure activities (transport and nontransport) and related consultancies in Great Lakes region. S/he will report to the Director Engineering and work
closely with the rest of DRC programme team and Infrastructure Teams.
Roles and responsibilitiesAct as project manager on agreed number of defined outputs within the TMEA programme in Great Lakes region, particularly TMEA-funded civil works and other infrastructure related activities. S/he will:
Develop, and maintain work plans, procurement plans, implementation plans and budgets for these activities;
Draft the ToRs for infrastructure related consultancies;
Review the specifications, design and drawings by outsource consultancy to ensure the TMEA infrastructure projects are with the desired high-quality standards, value engineering and green building concepts, as well as environmental friendly and ensure gender and inclusiveness responses;
Design and forecast infrastructure activities for budgeting and appraisal reports purposes;
Work with Great lakes region government institutions and other stakeholders to implement these activities;
Manage Contractors / Consultants (including drafting ToRs, assisting in procurement, supervising output, and managing contracts) engaged by TMEA, either directly or on behalf of client agencies;
Verify completion of milestones by contractors/consultants prior to payment and;
Feedback information on progress and changes to Great lakes programme teams to maintain accurate work-plans, spending forecasts, E&S monitoring, and M&E frameworks for the overall Great Lakes program.
Work closely and collaboratively with the TMEA DRC Country Director and all Portfolio Directors for TMEA infrastructure projects
Work closely and collaboratively with all other relevant TMEA technical units, including in particular Procurement, Finance, Audit and SIT
Draft and/or contribute to periodic reports and presentations on TMEA’s activities in the Great Lakes region
Support media and communications activities to ensure visibility of TMEA’s activities in the Great Lakes region
Assist in building partnerships and increasing collaboration with relevant institutions and regional and international organisations and development partners working in Great Lakes region infrastructure sector.
Use TMEA’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and processes.
Corporate systems

Demonstrate prudence,sound judgement and appropriate and timely escalations in management of all types of risk (including fraud risk) applicable to this role.
Understand and comply with the relevant end-to-end processes including

Seek to identify, understand and escalate risk events/ incidents/issues on a timely basis focusing on fixing root-cause and taking ownership of identified mitigating actions.
Complete all relevant mandatory trainings within the stipulated timelines
Promote and adhere to TMEA core values and ensure compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
Maintain zero tolerance to bribery, fraud and corruption, and ensure immediate reporting of any corruption or suspect behaviour that threatens TMEA’s reputation.
Adhere to the safeguarding policies and procedures and immediately report any safeguarding concerns.
Ensure compliance with PCM guidelines throughout the project design and implementation cycle, including reporting and closure.
Ensure compliance with grant management procedures and guidelines including appraisal, selection, implementation, reporting and closure.
Participate in regular informal and formal reflection, knowledge sharing and learning events.
Document lessons learned and best practices for knowledge sharing and learning.
Any other related responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager from time to time
Qualifications
Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field of construction;
Full membership and certification by Association des Ingénieurs Civils du Congo (ACIC)
Undergraduate degree holders will have at least 10 years’ of relevant working experience while postgraduate degree holders will require at least 8 years’ of relevant working experience.
At least three years of infrastructure contract management experience, with work experience in surface transport (road, rail, maritime, waterway) civil engineering.
Experience in working with FIDIC conditions of contract.
Additional skills
Fluent in French;
Business proficiency in English; and Swahili is desirable.
Working experience in Great Lakes region and East Africa
