Job Description

Job purpose: The incumbent is fully responsible for managing the whole gamut of plants protection activities professionally ranging from planning to evaluation with a view to enabling the Farm produces high quality products free from disease and pests by introducing different preventive, controlling, curative and eradication methods.

Job summary: The Plant Protection Manager’s duties include, but not limited to, the following.

Plan, coordinate, direct, supervise, monitor and evaluate plant protection activities of the Farm with major focus on preventive strategies.

Oversee and inspect the production field attentively with a view to identifying and detecting pests and disease on the Farm, and undertake the required measures accordingly.

Ensure that the Farm’s plant protection management, be it preventive or curative, are done in the right time.

Transport service available from the farm site to nearby towns of Wolkite, Gubere, & Agena.

Job Requirements

Qualification, experience, knowledge and skills

Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or Plant Science.

Must have a minimum of 7 years hands-on experience in plant protection management, of which at least 3 years as Plant Protection Manager, preferably in a rose farm.

Must have good knowledge of various plant protection management methods.

Must have good technical knowledge of the equipment, items and inputs required for efficient and effective plant protection management.

Must have strong analytical, planning, coordination, communication and reporting skills.
