Job DescriptionThe Executive Directress will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the overall institutional operation and the staff as well as the various departments.
She will take a leading role in developing, overseeing implementation, reviewing, and monitoring TIMRAN’s program and has the overall responsibility for the strategic leadership to achieve the organizational vision, mission, and objectives, demonstrating the organization’s core values at all times. She acts as the representative of the organization and leads its entire program, partnership, financial and legal undertakings.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:Strategy/organizational developmentContribute to strategic planning processes and to the overall strategic growth and organizational development of TIMRAN;
Lead the development of the organization’s annual operational plan;
Develop a comprehensive public relations strategy that will ensure ethical and speedy dissemination of information to the public;
Develop and introduce new program strategies that are in line with the overall objective of TIMRAN and strategic documents approved by the Board;
Develop a strategy for partnership and build strategic collaborations and partnerships
Maintain close communication with the Executive Board on relevant factors and changes in the operating environment that require a strategic shift
Program Development and Management
Lead the development of program designs and action plans as per strategic plans adopted;
Ensure the timely implementation of core program activities and actively lead key phases of ongoing programs;
Oversee and coordinate the programs to ensure the highest level of project quality and accountability;
Foster program continuity and impact through building internal capacity and developing innovative program interventions;
Evaluating the outputs of annual plans implemented every year;
Fundraising and Grants Management
Develop networks and partnerships with donors at national, regional, and international levels;
Spearhead donor collaboration, fundraising, and project development by identifying potential funders and establishing and maintaining relevant contacts;
Undertake diversified local and international fundraising initiatives and solicit monetary and material support to strengthen program funding as well as overall organizational capacity and sustainability;
Initiate and lead the preparation of good quality funding proposals and other relevant documents for fundraising purposes, and ensure their tactful use for lobbying donors and securing funding;
Facilitate donor visits, donor meetings, round-table discussions, and evaluations as necessary;
Ensure that effective grant management systems are in place and are properly implemented;
Financial and Asset Management
Ensure effective implementation and compliance with the overall financial rules of the organization as well as with procedures required by grant or contract agreements;
Oversee the development and implementation of annual budgets;
Ensure the timely preparation and submission of financial reports in compliance with TIMRAN’s policies and donor requirements;
Supervising the manner in which the organization’s assets are being administered, and ensuring their proper and efficient utilization;
Ensuring the provision of necessary office equipment and supplies for the
smooth running of the organization and an effective working environment for the staff;
Ensure the timely payment of all salary, benefits, and any allowances to the staff and other payments to third parties.
Human Resources Management
Recruiting necessary staff, supervising and evaluating their work as well as suspending or terminating their employment contract when appropriate;
Oversee adequate implementation of the performance management system including performance objectives and planning, review, appraisal, and staff development;
Oversee and monitor the efficiency of recruitment and human resource utilization across the organization;
Putting in place appropriate documentation, monitoring, and evaluation system for work processes and administrative activities.
Representation
Represent TIMRAN and be responsible for the management of relations and TIMRAN’s interests in dealing with government, partners, donors, and the media;
Represent TIMRAN in strategic meetings, conferences, forums, and other public events and contribute towards consolidating and raising the profile of TIMRAN;
Develop and strengthen relationships with international organizations and networks and establish regional and global strategic relations and alliances with partners and civil societies working on common cause aligned with TIMRAN objectives;
Represent TIMRAN in entering into contracts with third parties relevant to the operation of the organization.
Reporting
Ensuring the preparation and submission of relevant reports to donors, Civil Society Agencies and any other entity in a timely and quality manner;
Reporting periodically to the Board on the program, financial, and overall institutional operation.
Reporting to donors timely.
Other tasks
Assisting the Chair of the Board in preparations for Board and General Assembly meetings and serving as Secretary during Board meetings.
Implementing other activities as may be delegated by the Executive Board.
Qualification and work experience
Bachelor’s degree or MA/LLM in project management, gender studies, human rights, peace and security political or social sciences, Law, international relations, development studies, public administration, and related fields.
Eight (8) or more years of experience for bachelor’s degree holders and 5/more years of experience for MA/LLM holders
Knowledge and understanding of the political, social, economic, and cultural context of Ethiopia
Understand the civic society working context, and give primacy to gender equality, inclusivity, and sensitivity.
