Pharo School Homosha is a modern, well resourced, innovative, Grade 9-12 boarding school located in a picturesque and tranquil setting in rural Ethiopia. Pharo School Homosha is built and equipped to an exemplary standard rarely seen in Ethiopia.

The school’s focus on female education is in response to the challenges girls face in accessing high quality secondary education throughout Ethiopia.
Students gaining admission to the school will experience an innovative and enriching four-year educational experience, with all educational expenses (tuition, boarding, meals, textbooks, uniforms and supplies) covered by the Pharo Foundation.

Pharo School Homosha requires Boarding School Dormitory Support Staff (Proctors) to assist with the care, supervision and support of Pharo School Students.
This position is open to female applicants only and requires living on the Pharo School Homosha campus. Accommodation and meals are provided.
Working as part of a team, proctors are responsible for the day-to-day care of students.
It is important that proctors are able to build trusting, courteous and respectful relationships with Pharo School students and staff. Proctors must be viewed as fair, firm, kind and dependable.
Specific Responsibilities
Serve as a role model for students
Be available in dormitories and on the school campus during supervision hours of 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm and 6:00 am to 8:00 am, the following day, supporting and supervising students. Shift hours include week days and every second weekend
Be available overnight, for student emergencies
Ensure all main dormitory gates/doors are locked and unlocked at the scheduled times
Notify Health Centre Staff or other appropriate staff of student health/emotional needs
Play a leadership role in resolving student tensions, ensuring serious, unresolved and/or repeated student tensions are reported to Administration
Provide daily duty shift report
to Administration
Dispense student school supplies, dormitory supplies and hygiene supplies
Ensure accurate records are kept of all dormitory supplies and hygiene supplies given to students
Notify Administration when dormitory and hygiene supplies need to be purchased
Supervise hygiene practices and cleanliness
Supervise dormitory cleanliness and tidiness, including dormitory rooms, common room, toilet and shower areas, courtyard and laundry area
Supervise dormitory clothes washing activities, ensuring students follow clothes washing schedule
Monitor standards achieved by dormitory cleaners and report any concerns
Report repairs required in the dormitory maintenance log
Maintain close liaison with the Health Centre staff at all times concerning students’ health and medical needs
Ensure proper student sign out and sign in procedures are maintained
Record student attendance during dinner, evening study and at bed time
Ensure students are attending required tutorials/evening study sessions
Accompany students on any off campus outings
Assist in coordinating students’ arriving and leaving during holidays
Assist in planning special evening and weekend activities to engage students
Support, promote and implement Pharo School Homosha dormitory policies and protocols
Maintain detailed student records with particular attention to the confidentiality, privacy and sensitivity of issues
Undertake other appropriate duties as the Head of School/Senior Management Team, may require
Job Requirements
Requirements
University Degree University degree in Psychology, Sociology, and Counselling is preferred.
Able to communicate effectively at all levels with students, staff and parents
Professional, flexible, conscientious, and able to act with discretion at all times
Able to work upon your own initiative in a calm and patient manner
High level of organizational skills, detail oriented
Able to demonstrate a genuine warmth and interest in the students in your care
Past experience working with high school aged students
Fluency in Amharic, spoken and written
At minimum, basic English, spoken and written, with fluency in English, spoken and written, highly desirable
Fluency in an additional language highly desirable
