The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person for the position of Water and Habitat Engineer I.

Job Description

Assessment of the requirement for engineering projects in civilian community in Somali region, Ethiopia to improve the living conditions of the society

Design of engineering projects; water, sanitation, buildings to improve the living condition of detainees, including drawings and bills of quantities

Planning of the implementation of engineering projects, including preparation of tender documents, project planning,

organization of the procurement and delivery of construction materials and organization and supervision of construction labour and contractors

eporting verbally, and in writing and financially on projects under their management
Representing the ICRC in meetings with authorities

and community leaders at wereda and zonal level and with Commercial Companies, International Organisation and Non-Governmental Organisations that the ICRC water and habitat department collaborates with.

Job Requirements

University Degree in Engineering (Civil Preferred) with a strong knowledge of water and sanitation

4 Years Work Experience in construction project management

Good managerial, analytical and organizational skills

Proficient in use of standard programmes (Word, Excel, AutoCad)

Strong communication and negotiation skills

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds

Fluent spoken and written knowledge of English & Somali (who knows the region very well and speak the language)
