The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the UN World Food Programme (WFP) co-convene the SBN at global level. GAIN Ethiopia hosts the secretariat of the SBN Ethiopia and has created the SBN Ethiopia Executive Committee and works closely with the SUN Focal Point in Ethiopia
Tasks and Responsibilities
Lead the development of the SBN Ethiopia strategy and workplan – aligning the existing draft strategy in Ethiopia with the SBN’s Logic Model, Theory of Change and where relevant, utilising National SBN tools.
Organise technical and political level meetings between business, government, civil society, donors and UN agencies to strengthen cross-sector dialogue on nutrition and build consensus on priorities and opportunities for business and nutrition in Ethiopia.
Recruit national businesses to the SBN and utilize the National SBN Membership database for SBN Ethiopia
Roll out the SBN’s finance, technical assistance and business development surveys to assess SBN members for their needs – and identify new partnerships to address the challenges and opportunities facing business in Ethiopia to scale up their actions or investments in nutrition.
Identify opportunities to improve the enabling environment for business to increase actions and investments in nutrition.
Work with the SBN Global
team and GAIN Ethiopia Country Director to develop a post-2020 SBN Ethiopia fundraising strategy.
Facilitate SBN Ethiopia Executive Committee meetings.
Provide content and communications support to the global SBN team and sharing and adopt best practice through liaising with other National SBNs, particularly in Africa.
Reports on progress to national co-conveners of SBN Ethiopia and SBN Executive Committee.
Engage with SUN stakeholders in Ethiopia and contribute to the annual national SUN report.
Job Requirements
Proven track record and results in managing nutrition or private sector related development projects in Ethiopia
Experienced partnership broker and/or
negotiation skills with the private sector
Excellent relationship management and familiarity with managing a wide platform of stakeholders
Experience in communications and advocacy with the private sector
