Role Purpose: Functional, SIT & UAT Testing of M-Pesa application suite.
New applications, upgrades to existing applications including patches and hotfixes.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Ensuring the correct level of testing is performed in Market thereby allowing the relevant Market to sign-off test exit reports
Performing the required level of Functional, SIT and UAT Testing under the direction of the dedicated MPA Test Manager
Testing across multiple projects to ensure transition to live is smooth
Testing across multiple environments such as Functional, UAT, OAT, Pre-PROD and PROD based on the defined release process within the project
Ensuring through testing that User Stories developed meet all the defined acceptance criteria
Ensuring any market specific tests are verified such as local language and currency test checks
Ensure the local market business resources are aware of the functionality being delivered and the impact to Business Process is understood and aligned ahead of go-live implementation
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
5 Years minimum experience as a Software Tester
Strong eye for detail with the ability to now only identify defects but be able to assess root causes by assessing logs
Experience of testing across multiple channels USSD, Web, Mobile, APIs
Knowledge of defect management tools such as Quality Center, JIRA and X-Ray
Experience of working in Agile environments with a strong understand of core Agile Testing principles: TDD, BDD, CI/CD, Automation and Dev In Test
Understanding of Automation Tools such as Selenium
Technical knowledge: SQL, Databases, Reporting
Tools for BI, Logging for Defect Assessment
Strong communication and written skills to ensure smooth transition into market and that any defects raised are very clearly definied and understandable so can be resolved quickly and efficiently
Desired: Any testers coming from a development background or good coding skills would be of particular interest for cross-functional purposes
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
5 or more years of Testing experience across Functional, SIT, UAT Test Phases
Desired: Degree in IT or relevant IT qualification
Desired: ISEB Foundation
Desired: SAFe Certified
Key performance indicators:
Consisitently performs the required level of testing across relevant phases as assigned by the MPA Test Manager
Consistently identifies key defects across projects with allowing them to leak into production
Works well with all parties, Test, Development and Business to ensure progress is understood and defects are driven to resolution swiftly
Strong visionary skills thereby able to concentrate on testing with a business eye i.e. able to focus on priority scenarios and defects while still pushing for resolution of all open issues
Strong team player within MPA Test ensuring innovation, continuous improvement and a drive to succeed
Driving automation and CI/CD across the M-Pesa suite of applications
