Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment

The Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) is one of the special public universities in Kenya whose strategic objectives are teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community service and extension.

Beyond this, TU-K offers education and training that is focused on application of technological knowledge and skills.

The University also engages in innovation and research with a keen sense of application of such research in the solution of societal problems as well as future, anticipated problems.

The University is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced, highly motivated, visionary, dynamic and results oriented individual to the position of Executive Dean for the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The main responsibility of this position involves the guidance and management of the Faculty to attain its full potential, Including providing strategic direction, organization and administration of staff and programs of the Faculty.

Qualifications and Competencies

An earned PhD or its equivalent from a recognized university or institution.

At least 5 years experience in teaching, research and supervision of graduate students.

Should be a senior scholar to at least the level of Associate Professor.

Must have held management position(s) within the university/Institution of learning.

Experience gained in a technical institution of higher learning would be an added benefit

High level of Integrity and honesty

Possession of networks within universities/ institutions

Ability to forester close relationships with other

technical institutions of higher learning as well as industry

Articulate and results-oriented

Decisive, organised and orderly

Tenure and Appointment

The appointment to this position Is tenable on contract for a period not exceeding five (5) years and as may be determined by the University Council with a possibility of renewal for a further term.

Remuneration

The remuneration shall be in line with the general wage structure in the Public University system in Kenya and shall be at job Group XVI.

In addition, there shall be attractive allowances and other benefits as approved by Council.
