Applications are invited from suitable qualified individual to fill the following post at Starehe Girls Centre.

  • Ref: SGC/MT/02/2019 Music Teacher

    Key Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Education with music Major.
  • KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above.
  • MUST be registered as a teacher as per Section 23 of the TSC, Act 2012.
  • At least 3 years teaching experience in a comparable institution;
  • Good time management and organization skills
  • Knowledgeable in modern pedagogy and music practices
  • Ability and proven willingness to support clubs and other co-curricular activities.
  • Computer literate.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Should plan lessons in line with national 8-4-4 Secondary School curriculum, with the
    aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning and translate lesson plans into learning
    experiences.
  • Prepare and deliver lessons to a range of classes of different ages and abilities for both
    theory and practical music to students.
  • Select and use a range of emerging technologies to promote understanding of concepts,
    topics and learning experiences.
  • Manage student behavior in and out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
  • Undertake counselling duties and supporting students on an individual basis through
    academic difficulties.
  • Ability to foster a supportive
    environment for learners and educators to realize their full
    potential and willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in all areas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Performing such other related tasks as they arise and as delegated by the school
    management.
