Job Purpose

Reporting to the program Coordinator, the ward Coordinator is responsible for technical leadership and oversight of DREAMS activities in the ward. S/he will foster development of partnerships with Sub-County Medical Officer of Health (SCMOH), Sub-County AIDS and STIs Control Officer (SCASCO) and Constituency AIDS Control Council Coordinator (CACC) to ensure sufficient involvement and ownership of the relevant government bodies in project work.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate the provision of the comprehensive DREAMS package of service to Adolescent Girls
and Young Women (AGWY) in accordance with, national and donor guidelines and CUP Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

• Organize quarterly and monthly ward-level planning sessions to generate work plans and
budgets.

• Facilitate delivery of activities in the approved work plans and budgets and communicate any needed changes prior to implementing these changes.

  • Manage the Monthly work plan and budget for the ward.

    • Conduct on-site monitoring visits and conduct fortnightly formal feedback sessions with field
    staff and document through minutes, deliberations of these meetings.

    • Work in collaboration with other departments including HR, finance, procurement and administration to ensure all financial and administrative aspects are carried out seamlessly and in line with relevant organization policies and procedures.

    • Identify technical capacity gaps among project staff and facilitate training and mentoring of the
    staff to close the gaps.

    • Work with government HIV/AIDS structures at Sub-County (also county level when called upon) as well as other partners to provide and/or receive programmatic and technical assistance as indicated or requested. This includes participating in Sub-County Health Stakeholders Forums and Sub-County level Annual Operations’ Planning.

    • Foster development of partnership with SCMOH, SCASCO and CACC to enhance government ownership and leadership of program work

    • Establish and maintain a directory of all key partners and service providers including health
    facilities, legal service providers, education institutions, etc and use the directory to link
    AGYW to appropriate services as outlined in the DREAMS core package.

    • Ensure that all approved Tumikia
    Mtoto project data tools are available to all staff in the ward
    and are used to document service delivery and filed as outlined in the M&E SOP.

    • Document success stories, lessons learned and challenges to inform program decisions.

    • Prepare program monthly and quarterly reports using the approved templates and submit appropriately.

    Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social or behavioural science or related field

  • Post graduate diploma in project management, monitoring and evaluation or development studies or related field is an added advantage.

  • A minimum of two (3) years’ experience in a similar position working and managing a donor funded project.

    Competencies/ Abilities/ Skills Required

    • Good oral and written communication skills (English and Swahili)

    • Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

    • Ability to work and deliver results under pressure.

    • Demonstrated ability to work as a team leader and player.

    • Able to work in a community setting and relate well with AGYW

    • Good presentation and writing skills

    • Ability to cultivate constructive relationships at the grass-root level.

    • Good interpersonal and public relation skills and able to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

    • Strong coordination skills and team orientation.
