Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

i. Ensuring administration medicines and injectable fluids and infusion to patients as
prescribed by Medical Officer or Clinical Officers;

ii. Coordinating ordering medicines and injectable fluids and infusion from the drugs store;

iii. Accounting for medicines and injectable fluids and infusion;

iv. Ensuring monitoring of patients’ condition placed under observation;

v. Ensuring examination, diagnosis and prescription of drugs to patients by Nurses on-call or when called upon to do so;

vi. Ensuring administration of Immunization of babies;

vii. Ensuring Cleaning, stitching and dressing minor wounds, cuts incision and draining
uncomplicated abscesses;

viii. Overseeing normal or emergency deliveries of babies where patients cannot reach the
nearest hospital;

ix. Ensuring Counselling and examination of antenatal, post-natal and family planning
clients in MCH/FP clinic;

x. Coordinating dispensation of contraceptives;

xi. Ensuring prompt administration of First Aid to emergencies;

xii. Coordinating nursing care.

Job Specifications;

 A minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience;

 Diploma in Nursing or equivalent from a recognized institution;

 Nursing Council of Kenya registration;

 Be a member of a Nursing Council of Kenya;

 Proficiency in Computer application; and

 Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution
