South Nyanza Sugar Company Agriculture Superintendents Jobs in Kenya

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

i. Producing accurate monthly cane position;

ii. Planning farmers’ contracting and cane development to meet factory requirements;

iii. Ensuring adherence to farmers’ contracting procedures/policies;

iv. Ensuring effective extension services to farmers;

v. Ensuring that adherence to Good Agricultural Practices both in the Nucleus Estate
and Outgrowers.

vi. Ensuring establishment and maintenance of trials as per proven experimental designs
and budget;

vii. Analyzing of sugarcane production parameters;

viii. Carrying out cane maturity analysis;

ix. Ensuring that meteorological data are accurately collected, documented, and properly
interpreted;

x. Ensuring proper analysis and interpretation of laboratory results;

xi. Planning for adequate laboratory reagents and other inputs;

xii. Preparing effective cane harvesting program;

xiii. Implementing cane harvesting and transport plans

xiv. Recruiting and supervising of cane maintenance contractors;

xv. Ensuring proper dosing of farm chemicals and inputs

xvi. Ensuring proper servicing of light farm equipment

xvii. Initiating calibration process of farm equipment, instruments where applicable

Person Specification

 Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: General Agriculture, Agriculture
Economics, Agriculture Engineering, Agribusiness Management, Agriculture Extension
and Education or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

 Five (5) years relevant work experience

 Computer Literacy

 Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.
