SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is an affiliate of SOS CV- International whose mission is to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities. In Kenya, the organization runs five Children’s Villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Meru and Kisumu.
SOS Children’s Villages Kenya also runs education and health programs and works with local communities through Families Strengthening Programs.\
Responsibilities
Community Development Worker will undertake various duties which include and are not limited to the following:-
Support the coordination of all project activities including preparation for trainings to various implementation sites, training and sensitization of community on the importance of girl Education
Plan and facilitate peer education and life skills training
Schedule activities and meetings with community gate keepers and students,
Take part in midline and end line evaluation as advised by the project coordinator
Participate in project , organizational and institutional meetings and work harmoniously with other stakeholders.
Complete accurate activity reports submit them to the project coordinator within the set deadlines ,
Track students attendance in schools, ensure evaluations of trainings and outreach activities are conducted and reports written and submitted to the project coordinator.
Support in tracking the implementation of the child protection policy.
Keep records for data collected and reported
Facilitate Open communications with other departments in SOSCV KE
Attend regular department meetings as planned by the PD and project coordinator
Facilitate effective communication within the team to build a cohesive and supportive unit.
Facilitate open communication and coordination between the JGEC project and other programs in the location.
Ensure that all the children are ready for school whenever the new term begins by purchasing personal school materials for them
well in advance to avoid lateness and delays.
Data Management and Protection
Requirements
A minimum of bachelor’s degree in social sciences preferably in Education.
Diploma in project management will be an added advantage
Prior experience with project cycle management in a complex project
At least 3 years progressive experience working with vulnerable populations children, youth, women and community groups.
Good facilitation skills
Previous experience in child -focused organizations working with children on care, protection and advocacy will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili is preferred.
Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program.
Strong report writing skills.
People management skills as well as mentor-ship experience
