Background:SoCha is contracted to deliver the USAID/Kenya and East Africa (KEA) Localization, Inclusion, and
Sustainability Activity (LISA) with the aim of assisting USAID staff and stakeholders to be more efficient, effective, transparent, inclusive, and skilled in achieving development outcomes.
USAID/KEA in conjunction with the Kenya Ministry of Health (MOH) are working to improve healthcare services through a Development Cooperation Framework Agreement Implementation Letter (IL). The IL outlines USAID/KEA’s support for the following 6 priority health areas:
Strategic Programs: HIV, Malaria, TB
Family Health and NVIP: RMNCAH, Nutrition, Sanitation, Immunization
Health Systems Strengthening: Health Policy, HRH, HIS, Public Health/Global Health Security
Partnerships and Private Sector Engagement: Health Sector Coordination Intergovernmental and
International Relations Membership
Primary Health Care, Health Policy, and Health Care Financing
Health Products and Technologies: HPT, Labs, KEMSA, PPB, NQLS Following the joint MOH-USAID co-creation meeting held on April 4, 2023, 6 Annex Teams were formed and have since been jointly working together to co-create the IL. These teams are composed of joint MOH and USAID counterparts, including other respective technical staff from various departments.
The Annex Teams are currently developing their respective annexes, which will be presented and
validated at a co-creation workshop from June 26-28, 2023. The goal is to have the 6 teams refine their drafts at this co-creation workshop.
Position Responsibilities:
LISA is seeking a Health
Specialist with technical expertise in facilitation and editing documents. The Health Specialist will assist USAID/KEA to:
Review the 6 draft annexes developed by the different teams, linking them to and triangulating
with approved source documents.
Harmonizing the draft annexes and standardizing the language in appreciation of the target audience.
Support the main facilitator finalize agenda, facilitation plan, and presentation templates.
Co-facilitate the co-creation workshop.
Review, provide feedback, and finalize the drafts with teams after presentations.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree in medicine, Public Health, Health Research, International Health, Health Policy and management, Environmental Health Sciences, Family Health, Socio-medical Sciences, or any other field relevant to public health required.
10+ years of relevant work experience in Health or any of the above related areas.
Experience working in Kenya with international development organizations is an advantage.
Demonstrated experience conducting analytical /diagnostic work: preparing high-quality technical reports, policy briefing materials, and presentations to influence public health decision making and implementation at national and county levels.
Deep understanding of the Kenyan Health System at National and County Levels, preferably
with on-the-ground experience in both levels.
Experience working with/consulting for development partners preferred.
