SNV NGO Junior Advocacy Advisor – Food and Nutrition Security Jobs in Kenya

The main areas of intervention in each of the sectors are
Strengthening of CSO capacities: Capacity development program strengthens capabilities in the field of leadership, thematic knowledge, advocacy and business development.
Evidence creation and dissemination
Capacity building in making use of evidence and data by contextualising results of research, availing knowledge products and facilitating access to on-line platforms.
Support to advocacy plans and activities of CSOs in the design and implementation of advocacy plans
The scope of work in Kenya will cover Food and Nutrition Security. The Junior Advocacy officer will work within the V4CP team and report to the Project Manager.
Job Description
Implementation capacity development interventions for participating Civil society Organizations participating in the food and nutrition security and resilience thematic areas; with regards to technical knowledge
Provide technical assistance and accompaniment for participating CSOs in further elaboration of strategic issues and subsequent development of theory of change and consolidating the planning monitoring and evaluation frameworks for inception period and beyond.
Be part of the capacity building team Provide on-going institutional capacity development to participating civil society organizations in various areas of evidence based advocacy, evidence generation, organizational sustainability
Coordinate various inputs to CSOs by other project resource people and partners; SNV advisors, research institutions, and other partner organizations.
Regularly monitor results and internal budgets as per donor and SNV requirements and through continuous risk management efforts;
Coordinate and foster collaboration with other countries implementing programs in the same sector;
Provide support to link country activities on food and nutrition security theme
to advocacy activities and profiling in the Netherlands and at a global level;
Contribute to knowledge development, in particular regarding evidence based advocacy
Profile and position SNV towards potentially interested donors for Evidence Based Advocacy and beyond for the specific theme and ensure additional funding through submission of successful proposals.
Qualifications
Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline; Agribusiness, Economics, Agriculture and policy development. A Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Thorough and up to date knowledge of academic and donor thinking in the respective thematic field;
Three (3) years’ work experience in an international (development) organization and sound experience in thematic area of Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience;
Technical knowledge and familiarity in specific topics of food and nutrition security such as nutrition, food safety, food losses, resilience etc.
Skills in agriculture market systems approaches and value chain development processes; including stakeholder engagement; the public sector actors, Research institutions, private sector and consumer organisations.
Experience with Capacity Development of Civil Society Organizations;
Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a multicultural teams;
Strong interpersonal and influencing skills and experience working in a matrix organization;
Ability to travel to project locations.
Additional Information
Contract Duration 1 year with possibility of extension.
