2. Technical Expert – Social Economist / Social Scientist Job in Kenya
(For a Kenyan National)
Based in Nairobi with travel to project areas or vice versa
Key ResponsibilitiesBroadly, the Social Economist/ Social Scientist will provide advisory support and management to integrated natural resource management and conservation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications and skillsAt least a Master's Degree or equivalent in Social Studies, Economics or related fields. Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite.
General professional experience
At least 7 years proven experience in providing advisory support and management to integrated natural resource management and conservation initiatives.
At least 4 years proven experience working as a Social Economist / Social Scientist
Proven strong writing, analytical, communication and reporting skills
Specific professional experience
At least 4 years proven experience in knowledge transfer through training and other capacity development methods
Proven experience in Socio-Economic analysis including extensive experience with qualitative methods and analyses and reporting
Familiarity with social related policies and regulations in Kenya (including gender considerations) is an added advantage
Experience in designing and carrying out social and gender assessment feasibility reports and related environmental and social management plans, resettlement action plans (RAP) and/or risk management and other mitigation measures are desirable.
Contract Duration:
2 years with possibility of extension.
Desired start date:
March 2017

3. Technical Expert – Forest Management/ Forest Inventory Expert

Key Responsibilities
Broadly, the Forest Management/Forest Inventory Expert will offer technical expertise by providing advisory support or management of forest ecosystems and climate change resilience initiatives.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications and skills
At least a Master's Degree or equivalent in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, Climate Change or related field.
Fluency in spoken and written English is a prerequisite.
General professional experience requirements
At least 8 years proven experience providing advisory support or management of forest ecosystems and climate change resilience initiatives.
Proven strong writing, analytical, communication and reporting skills
Specific professional experience
At least 6 years proven experience in forest management, planning and restoration / forest inventory programme/project operations
At least 3 years proven experience in knowledge transfer through training and other capacity development methods.
At least 3 years proven experience in community based natural resource management, climate change adaptation among small holder farmers, reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation plus (REDD +), payment for ecosystem services( PES), multilateral environmental agreement including climate change policy frameworks, land use – forestry based green houses gases(GHG) accounting.
Proven knowledge in international policies relevant to natural resource management and climate change
Contract Duration:
2 years with possibility of extension.
