Accelerating the Sustainable Control and Elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases (ASCEND) is a high profile, high value, multi-partner programme significantly contributing to the control and elimination of five Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) - onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, trachoma, schistosomiasis and soil transmitted helminths - in 13 countries of west and central Africa. Sightsavers is the lead supplier for Ascend West & Central Africa and is responsible for its overall delivery of ASCEND.
The ASCEND Project Officer will ensure that the Ghana ASCEND project is planned, implemented, monitored and evaluated to the highest standards, whilst identifying areas for new initiatives.
Ideally this role will start in early December.
Some responsibilities include:
Coordinating ASCEND Programme activities throughout Ghana
Supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme
Develop and support relationships with all ASCEND partners to ensure long-term collaborations and the promotion of the ASCEND programme
Producing programme reports to a high standard
Reviewing field activity
Providing feedback to colleagues and stakeholders
Ensuring inclusion
and accessibility within the programme
Preparing budgets and monitoring expenditure and resources
Liaising with partners regarding their financial returns and audits
Develop and support relationships with all ASCEND partners to ensure long-term
collaborations and the promotion of the ASCEND programme
As ACEND Project Officer, you will have:
Essential
Undergraduate Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, International Development, Education or appropriate equivalent, or equivalent experience
Experience of all aspects of project management in community development programmes, including planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
Experience of project budgets, forecasts and reports
Understanding of international development issues and a commitment to equality of opportunity for people with disabilities.
Desirable
Experience of working with either the ASCEND programme or the Ghana Health Service
Experience and knowledge of Neglected Tropical Diseases
Experience of working in gender sensitive or disability inclusive programmes focusing on health, social inclusion, education and advocacy
Ability to start work in early December
