Duties and Responsibilities

This entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced Veterinary officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: - receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching, analyzing and preserving test samples; performing crop, vaccine, feed animal products and by products quality assurance tests; Field sampling of suspected animals’ samples and Laboratory examination; standardizing laboratory procedures and reagents;

Evaluating specimens received by laboratory and organize workflow to; provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround times of results; Perform quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of assays; Maintain equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoot unexpected problems for the equipment;

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

Certificate in Applied Sciences (Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry/ Biology), Laboratory Science and Technology/Medical Laboratory Sciences/ or any other comparable and relevant qualifications from a recognized

Diploma in a relevant field will be an added advantage

Registration with the relevant body: Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board

At least 3 years’ relevant experience

Certificate in Computer Applications
