Purpose of the Job The Non-RSA Regional Manager operates within a specific Non-RSA country, with the role assuming accountability for the management of all retail operations for a region with the aim of delivering on the Meat Markets regional targets and priorities.
This is an end-to-end management role, responsible for ensuring that all butchery operations within the region are executed and optimised in accordance with company standards, while maximizing turnover and budgets, and delivering a consistent, brand-aligned customer experience.
The Regional Manager manages the butchery team within the region, enabling their growth, driving alignment in values and ensuring regional performance goals and objectives are met.
Job Objectives
Effectively manage the team to ensure delivery for the Meat Markets regional retail operations.
Monitor and report on daily butchery sales performance per region.
Ensure that orders are checked against the rate of sales in relation to the frequency of deliveries as well as linked to the availability of stock at wholesalers to ensure that the butcheries are trade ready.
Probe investigation of GPs (GROSS PROFIT), overstocks, shrinkage and expiry dates, when necessary.
Conduct visits to local and outlying butcheries or branches according to agreed schedules (i.e., weekly or quarterly), and provide feedback addressing butchery performance and conditions to Senior Management.
Effectively manage the financial income statement per butchery.
Investigate till shortages and escalate to Senior Management, Loss Control Manager (within country) and Management in country.
Manage customer queries or complaints, supporting customers as needed while ensuring queries and complaints are timeously and professionally resolved.
Monitor customers’ in-store experience during store visits to assess customer satisfaction with Meat Market products and services.
Monitor compliance with standardised brand and image,
cutting specifications and packaging standards.
Ensure that daily scale reports are received by the Butchery Manager (or Senior Meat Technician in the absence of the Manager).
Enable accurate and secure documenting, file management and timeous submission of all financial documents (GRV, IBT and stock books, etc.) to the cash office and the country Divisional Office.
Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, Retail Management or a related field – (preferred).
Experience
+3 years' demonstrable experience managing a butchery or retail operation and team in a Meat Market or similar environment – (essential).
Experience working within Africa, with good understanding of country specific laws and regulations as it relates to people management, retail operations and trading terms, specifically within a Meat Market or similar environment – (desirable).
Good understanding of the retail market, butchery and retail KPI measurements – (essential).
Knowledge and Skills
Good understanding of the retail market, butchery and retail KPI measurements – (essential).
Strong proficiency in MS Office 365 with well-developed skill level in Excel and Word – (essential).
Knowledge of ACCPAC or SAP (desired).
Knowledge of MMOS Reporting (desired).
