Overall Responsibility and Job PurposeEnsure successful delivery of the Agriculture market support (AMS) project, management of field extension officers, building relationships with farmer organizations, Project Partners and District Authorities, management of information flow to enable management of budgets, plans, reports and donor contracts
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Support Linkages of groups and Farmer organizations (FOs) and to business development and support services
Train and ensure that farmers are using improved production and management practices, inputs and technologies
Support orientation of FOs in Financial Literacy:
Ensure that FOs are fully engaged in the development of plans, monitoring and reporting.
Participate in orientation and mentoring of Community Facilitators (CF) to mobilize groups for trainings and other project engagements.
Ensure that smallholder farmers are receiving improved services from well-managed and transparent FOs
Conduct review meeting at farmer level for FOs
Conduct review biannual meetings for collection centers
Conduct linkage meetings between farmer Organizations and
Compile and submit reports in a timely manner.
Guide the planning and implementation of; marketing, information gathering, preparation of group business & action plans and establishment & strengthening of business linkages of the value chain actors
Ensure good networking and collaboration relationships with line government ministries and agencies, local governments and other development partners in the project area.
Conduct market system analysis
Participate in annual agri-business and match making events for market system actors
Conduct beneficiary selection and capacity building to DLG staff, FOs, aggregators
Support groups to generate and review action plans.
Conduct agri-business market linkage meetings for market systems actors.
Link groups to existing sources of market information using digital platforms.
Participate in programme/project evaluations/assessments.
Participate in data collection and submission
Documentation of learning and best practices
Contribute to the development of grant proposals as required.
Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
Persona Specification
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, business administration, agriculture economics, agribusiness, micro-finance and related fields with post graduate qualification in a
related field
Masters level qualification is an added advantage
Experience
Rich field and community development work experience with minimum of 2 years of supervising extension workers
Knowledge in extension services delivery
Experience in layering of services
Experience of preparing, monitoring and managing budgets and work plans
Staff Management experience
Knowledge of environmental good practice
Experience in NGO work.
Experience in agriculture value chain
Experience in research and development
Skills/Abilities
Full and deep understanding of all technical aspects of the SACU programme
Strong people management ability
Numerate
Good communication and presentation skills
Report writing skills
Team player
Skills is computer applications such as word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong networking skills.
Able to participate on a practical level with government and other development partners Ability to identify funding opportunities
