Introduction
Self Help Africa (SHA) is an International Non-Governmental Organization implementing rural development, sustainable food and livelihoods security programmes in nine countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. SHA’s vision is an economically thriving and resilient rural Africa with a mission to support sustainable livelihoods for Uganda’s smallholder farmers. Self Help Africa NGO Programme Manager Jobs in Uganda
Job Purpose
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Programmes, the Programme Manager (PM) will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a new EC-funded project, “Striking a Balance: Developing a green economy around Lake Bunyonyi”, that will be implemented by a consortium consisting of Self Help Africa (SHA-Uganda), Kabale and Rubanda District Local Governments and African International Christian Ministries (AICM). The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the inclusive and low-carbon economic transformation of communities in the Lake Bunyonyi Basin, generating sustainable economic growth, increased employment, reduced poverty, improved nutrition, and the sustainable management of their environment.
Responsibilities
Coordination and oversight of project activities:
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL):
Management of Project Resources (human and financial):
Networking and liaison with other stakeholders and policy engagement:
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in environmental/natural resource management, agriculture, rural development, horticulture, or related subject
Minimum 5 years’ experience with at least 3 at a similar level managing projects focused on natural resource management, sustainable livelihoods and/or developing the green economy
Experience in managing NRM networks and/or supporting local/regional or national policy engagement initiatives for NRM involving multiple stakeholders
Good understanding of gender dynamics and issues related to smallholder agriculture production and gender interaction systems in Uganda
A high level of understanding of project cycle management approaches, project appraisal, monitoring and evaluation and partners’ capacity building
Extensive experience in budgeting and financial procedures
Proven ability to motivate, provide technical support and guidance to a diverse team of staff and partners

Self Help Africa NGO Seniour Finance Accountant Jobs in Uganda
Job Puporse
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance and Administration, the Senior Finance Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, project income and expenditure statements, reports to donors and any other ad hoc report as required. The Senior Finance Accountant plays a key role in the management of the relationships between Self Help Africa Uganda and the partner organisations we work with by providing accounting support and conducting regular monitoring and internal audit visit.
Responsibilities
Support the coordination, alignment and management of Self Help Africa Programme Finance
Administration of best financial practices to create the highest level of efficiency possible within the Self Help Africa Country Office.
Provide managerial and administrative leadership for the Procurement of goods and services for respective organizational stakeholders in accordance with procurement policies and guidelines, management of fleet of vehicles and SHA assets
Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a qualified
accountant preferably in an INGO environment.
Internationally recognized Accounting Qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA)
A Bachelor’s Degree in the Finance/Accounting field.
Strong technical abilities and up to date knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Fluency in spoken and written English
Ability to bring accounts to at least Trial Balance stage
Experience in the preparation and review of management accounts and the critical analysis of a trial balance
Experience in the preparation of annual financial statements for audit

Self Help Africa NGO Lead Driver Jobs in Uganda
Job Puporse
Reporting directly to the Senior Administrator, the Lead Driver is responsible for managing Self Help Africa drivers for the efficient operation and maintenance of the Self Help Africa motorcycle and motor vehicle fleet, for driving and ensuring the safety and security of authorised passengers on board in line with Self Help Africa policy and the traffic laws and regulations of Uganda.
Responsibilities
Supervise driver assignments, ensuring compliance with safety standards
Work closely with the Senior Administrator to organize logistics and reports
Under the supervision of the Senior Administrator, ensure that the Self Help Africa vehicles and motorcycles are properly maintained so that they are able to operate safely
Qualifications
The Lead Driver must be at least 30 years of age and above
The Lead Driver must have basic and mechanical knowledge of motor vehicles
The Driver must be prepared to work away from home from time to time
Experience of working with Non-Governmental organisations
Experience of management and supporting Drivers
Excellent verbal, analytical, organisational and written skills
People management skills
Proactive and motivated with a strong commitment to Self Help Africa’s vision, mission and values
Attention to detail and the ability to produce timely and accurate reports
