Segera Retreat is a Safari Lodge with complex and far-reaching water reticulation, sophisticated water and sewage treatment, rain-water collection, solar boreholes, etc.
The plumber is responsible for installing (as long as not done by external contractors), running, checking, maintaining and fixing all the water- and plumbing-related equipment and infrastructure.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Checking and maintaining all water-related components of the infrastructure of Segera retreat according to the Maintenance Schedule:
Water Reticulation and Treatment: the ‘water side’ of the pressure pumps and water softener as well as piping, tanks, valves, manholes, etc.
Sewage Treatment: Biobox including all the septic tank systems, the sump wells and all the sump pumps
Solar Geysers: all the hot water installations – piping, pressure valves, vacuum tubes, airlocks, leaks, etc.
Gutters and Storm-Water Systems: gutters, downpipes, manholes, cisterns, etc.
Bathrooms: taps, showers, bathtubs, toilets cisterns and inlet valves, septic tanks and submersible pumps, etc.
Spa: Rasul, hot water supply
Pools & Ponds: plumbing and fittings, valves and sockets.
Kitchen & Restaurants: taps, drains, hot water supply, water bottling station, RO units, ice makers, water circulation pumps etc.
Ensure that Bull Boma tank, the Kambi Ndege holding tanks and the Softened Water tank are full at any time.
Ensure that the Mukenya pump is always working.
Make sure the water pumps at the Mukenya bore hole, in the softener room and at the RO room are working well.
Check, clean and if necessary fix every single fitting (taps, shower heads, bathtub faucets, toilet flushing, sink drains, etc.) of any given Villa or House before new guests or the owner arrive.
Check for bad smells or other signs of blocked sewage pipes or septic tanks.
Constantly be on the look-out for leaks.
Run Biobox and make sure that the treated sewage is correctly ozonated and that there is always enough garden water, if necessary by adding Bull Boma water.
Liaise with the stewards, the kitchen staff, the waiters, the gardeners, security, guides, etc. to ensure that all the plumbing problems are being reported and taken care of.
Prepare the Retreat for rainy seasons with regard to roofs, gutters and storm water as well as rain water collection
Respond 24/7 to the
radio and take appropriate action to remedy any kind of water-related breakdown immediately.
Check and update all the checklist and hand over them to the Technical Services Manager every end of the month.
Keep all the tools and equipment of the workshop in best order and working condition with a weekly control of all the assets and immediately report any damaged or missing items.
Create, manage and secure a store with the necessary tools and consumables (in cooperation with Technical Services Manager).
Maintain all the safety standards, follow and respect all the environmental laws and rules and support all the recycling efforts of Segera.
Report at the end of each workday to your immediate supervisor to discuss the plans for the following day and prepare the necessary material for the next morning.
Relieve pool attendant.
The ideal candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:-
Craft certificate in Plumbing: Government Trade Test Grade III
Kenya certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE)
Must have experience of at least two (2) years in a busy environment.
Ability to work under minimum supervision with a high sense of personal initiative
Keen & fast learner
Good communicator
Good team player.
Swimming pool/electrical knowledge will be an added advantage.
