Scholarships for Study in Africa
by Theresia Bonifasi
(Moshi-Tanzania)
Hello!
I am Theresia! My brother is a second year student at IMTU university in Dares salaam pursuing his bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery.
It is a five years course and their tuition fee is 4500 U.S dollars per year(almost 6,000,000 T sh).
He joined the college with expectation of getting government sponsorship (as were promised) but unfortunately things didn't work out as we hoped!
As a result ,the Higher students loan board of Tanzania is paying for him 1,200,000 T sh per year and the rest we as a family we have been struggling to pay with much difficulties.
My brother is frustrated now! Two days ago he phoned to me to tell me about his decision to quit from the college and join a Tourism Course which is cheaper and shorter!
I felt very bad and i don't know what to do? They are going to start their semester exams on 20th February,2009 and we have to pay at least half of the debt which is 2,000,000/=.
It is through this situation that i came to a friend who has just give me this adress to contact with you!
Please ,is there any way you can help us to save this doctor from shifting to Tourism course?
We are only three in our family,he is the first born and our father died in 1992.
Myself I have just completed my studies on october,2008 and my young brother completed his exams from the Law school of Tanzania yesterday.
Please,help!
