Key AccountabilitiesPlanning and ReportingIn close collaboration with Camp based Program coordinator and other education staffs prepare work plan with quarterly deliverables, and ensures timely submission of the plan for program and field operations team
Compile school annual plan and reports from their respective sites, and ensures timely submission for Gambella field Office.
Ensure the preparation of timely and quality weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual project progress reports on the standard formats.
Reports on gaps observed to program coordinator, field operations or/& technical program leads on time for proper collective remedial actions
Coordination and Management of Projects Implementation
Ensures education project is implemented in a way that is responsive to teachers, the community, and children and in line with Save the Children principles, values as well as country office strategic plan.
Ensures integration of the education project activities with the other relevant sectors like CP, WASH, Health, Nutrition and others.
Identify gaps and provide regular technical supports and capacity building trainings for all education stakeholders.
In close collaboration with the Camp Program Coordinator and other support units (at Field Office level),initiate, follow the required admin supports and facilitate on time implementation of the project activities based on the activity plan and ensure implementation with the expected quality.
Ensure active participation of children and other stakeholders in the project activities implementation
Strengthens team spirit and collaborative work relationships
Supervision and Monitoring
In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and government stakeholders, maintain strong supervision and monitoring system to measure achievement and progress toward the project objective and expected outcomes and impacts
Conduct monitoring and supervision of the planned project activities implementation and provide technical support to schools to improve their activity implementation quality
Strengthen participatory, collaborative supportive supervision and support the existence of a functional MEAL/monitoring system for the program.
Staff Management and Mentorship
Strengthen team spirit and team work
Ensure that
education personnel, head teachers and established committees in the schools are able to perform their role based on their specific TOR/Job descriptions, project objectives, activities and expected outcomes.
In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator, facilitate recruitments and capacity building supports for incentive staffs and others as appropriate.
In close collaboration with the Programme Coordinator, provide leadership and manage the performance of the intervention centres/schools.
Capacity Building
In collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and other SCI and government stakeholders staff, identify gaps and facilitate capacity building training and other support for supervisors, teachers, directors students and other stakeholders
Arrange experience-sharing media among schools and other stakeholders.
Ensure that the required appropriate technical supports are provided for directors, teachers, supervisors and students on time and strengthen team spirit and collaborative work.
Perform any other activities based on line manager’s assignment
Job Requirements
Qualification ,Experience and Competencies
Degree in Education and other social sciences
Minimum of 4 years working experience preferable with NGOs especially in development and emergency education projects.
Willingness to live in a hardship area
Team working and ability to work under pressure.
Computer skills (Microsoft word and excel).
Good communication skills – in English, Amharic and local language.
Good organisation and attention to detail
Strong report writing skills
Skills and Abilities
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets
Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
Fluency in English, and other national/local languages both verbal and written essential
