In Uganda, we implement programmes in five thematic programme areas of Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Education, Child Poverty, Health and Nutrition in Development and Emergency contexts.

Save the Children delivers programs in over 36 districts in the North, Rwenzori, North-Eastern, West Nile and Central regions of Uganda. We save children’s lives.

Role Purpose:

The position is responsible for managing the implementation of Child Protection Programme activities in either Rhino or Kyaka & Ramwanja, mentoring and coaching staff and to represent and advocate for Save the Children’s work and organizational priorities in child protection with a wide range of external parties including Government (OPM), communities, donors during field visits, and other humanitarian agencies operating in the area.

The incumbent will be expected to provide leadership and guidance to the project implementing team.

Qualification and Experience;

Essential

Degree in social work/social sciences or equivalent.

Minimum of three years relevant work experience in child protection programmes.

Previous experience of managing a team of implementing staff in Implementation of project activities

Demonstrable experience of using current quality standards and guidelines for child protection programmes.

Strong planning and organisational skills to meet project goals.

Experience of managing the project cycle, including implementation and report writing, Monitoring and evaluation.

Solid knowledge base and practical experience in community based child protection approaches,

Case management and child participation methodologies.

Desirable

Experience in building relationships, fostering interagency coordination and experience of representation to external parties.

Strong self-starter, able to set up and manage child protection programmes.

Strong computer skills.

Fluency in written and spoken English.
