Save the Children International is currently recruiting for a Program Officer- Sexual Gender Based Violence for the BPRM Project at our Arua Office.
The Program Officer is responsible for providing support to the community and health facility as the focal point person for all SGBV information, case management activities and services.
S/He will be in charge of coordinating timely GBV interventions, ensure on time and quality planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting of the GBV protection interventions.
The Program Officer will take responsibility for supporting the continuous technical coaching and capacity building of staff s/he will be working with to address GBV cases at health facility, CFS and settlement level.
To reduce the exposure to violence of women and children in the settlements of Mvepi and Omugo. He s/he will work closely with the CP Specialist and Gender Coordinator at national level to ensure that implementation is in line with the Country office Strategic Plan and project outcomes.
The Program Officer may be called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Degree in Social Work/Social Sciences or equivalent from a credible institution
At least 2 years working experience in planning and implementing development programmes on GBV in Uganda.
At least two years working on SGBV.
Must be willing to be based in the field.
Thorough understanding of Save the Children working principles and approaches of Child Participation, Child Rights Programming, Partnership, Child Safeguarding, Zero Tolerance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Programme Integration etc.
Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including
influencing, negotiation and coaching
Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
