We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fleet Manager to provide strategic and operational support to our global Fleet Management function. This role could be based in our London office, or any existing Save the Children location.

Experience with Fleet Management systems and vehicle GPS and Telematics Systems
A demonstrable record of delivering and driving best practice in regards to Fleet Management
A proven ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally with a flexible yet stabilising attitude.
Comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team, including working with, and supporting, a diverse community of stakeholders at a distance.
Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods.
The ability to travel (up to 50%) to operational country programs (on occasion remote and insecure)
Experience in all technical areas relating to freight forwarding, distribution, warehousing, and shipping operations is desirable, along with sector experience
Responsibilities
Contribute and support to the transformation of fleet management capabilities.
Provide functional support to country teams on fleet management, ensuring alignment with the fleet policy, associated manuals, and procedures on all fleet related matters.
Improve the end-to-end lifecycle for the region’s fleets, from supporting specification definition through purchasing to delivery, maintenance, fuel management, replenishment and disposal, ensuring alignment and compliance with policy and procedures.
Implement globally the ‘Road Transport Policy & Procedures’, referring to wider SCI policy
Collate ‘key performance indicators’ data and reports, leading on mitigations to hazards, risks and continuous performance improvement.
Identify and support the creation of learning and development programmes for enhanced fleet management and road & vehicle safety initiatives.
Create a culture of continuous learning where relevant staff are encouraged and supported to grow and develop and are willing to be held accountable for their commitments.
Support fleet disposal strategies and disposal of fleet category vehicles, at the end of serviceable life, determined by programmes and donor rules based on equipment ability to operate in an efficient and “value for money” basis.
Support with the analytics of detailed and timely reports on all aspects of operation, demonstrating complete understanding of the fleet, performance, application and identification of opportunity for delivering better value to SCI.
Support KPI reporting/proposing different options for the business based on information data seen.
Identify areas of improvement, and tenaciously follow through to completion involving all relevant stakeholders, e.g. option of fleet MPG performance, ROI to support.
Support of Fleet Management software solutions and training, to ensure it is operational and utilised by programmes
and projects to requirement, liaising with the Global head of Fleet management to build future IT infrastructure to support effective fleet management.
To support the fleet replacement program taking into account financial and operational aspects , creating a replenishment program for fleet (with justification)
Qualifications
Degree level in Business, Finance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Fleet Management or similar level, category relevant qualification / Equivalent experience.
Technical qualifications in mechanical engineering for light and heavy commercial vehicles (for example City & Guilds Technicians Certificate in heavy vehicle engineering or equivalent)
Significant prior Fleet Management experience with a proven record of accomplishment in the delivery of successful change management activities covering all fleet disciplines and deliverables.
A solid understanding of the full spectrum of operational commerciality and all aspects of fleet total cost of ownership.
Experience of Fleet Management systems and vehicle GPS and Telematics Systems
Proven experience in the design, implementation and management of the full spectrum of logistics Health and Safety processes and procedures, deferring to global standards and policies and attend external meetings.
A demonstrable record of delivering and driving best practice in regards to Fleet Management
Ability to synthesise and analyse complex information, and make clear, informed decisions
Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally with a flexible yet stabilising attitude.
Comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team, including working with, and supporting, a diverse community of stakeholders at a distance.
Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities
Strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English
Commitment to Save the Children values.
Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods.
Able to travel if required to operational country programs (on occasion remote and insecure)
Member of the Engineering Technical Council or equivalent.
Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry or equivalent.
Experience in all technical areas relating to freight forwarding, distribution, warehousing, and shipping operations.
Procurement of Telematics and Fleet Management system solutions
Leadership experience and a detailed knowledge of industry standards, best practice, preparedness, freight forwarding, distribution, warehousing, transport and shipping operations.
Experience of setting up complex supply chains to support delivery programmes, and ensuring appropriate resourcing for the physical supply chain.
Past experience of working in the INGO sector
