The OpportunitySave the Children International Kenya- Wajir Office, has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) officer. The role holder will be expected to support the delivery of the drought humanitarian response in North Eastern Kenya. S/he will be expected to support Humanitarian MEAL system design and implementation, evaluations, MEAL budgeting, recruitment as well as support proposal writing and log frame development usually at a provincial or sub-national level.
In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or capacity building existing country programme staff. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Humanitarian)

Nationality: Kenya National only
Qualification And ExperienceEssential Significant years of experience working internationally in humanitarian programmes
Education to BSc/BA/BEng level in a relevant subject or equivalent field
Significant experience of undertaking a MEAL related role in humanitarian
Experience of, and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
Demonstrated strong monitoring and evaluation skills, including planning/participating in evaluations
Experience of training and capacity building
Some experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.
Knowledge of institutional donors and experience of developing proposals
Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
Excellent communication and influencing skills
A high level of written and spoken English
Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support
Preferably has ever worked or is currently based in Wajir
Desirable
Language skills in English and Kiswahili
Specific experience of managing BHA, ECHO and other major project
