Role Purpose:The overall purpose of the health cluster is to Provide health leadership in emergency and crisis preparedness, response and recovery; Prevent and reduce emergency-related morbidity and mortality; Ensure evidence-based actions, gap filling and sound coordination; and Enhance accountability, predictability and effectiveness of humanitarian health actions.
The Health Cluster Co-Coordinator will contribute for the fulfilment of the Health Clusters purposes, which are to provide substantial assistance in the implementation of inclusive, field-level humanitarian coordination mechanisms, including liaison with relevant UN operational agencies, NGOs, and local authorities.
Qualifications and Experience Essential
Degree in medicine and /or Public Health.
Health professional with extensive experiences of humanitarian response and coordination mechanism for 5-6 years, of which at least 3 in managing and coordinating health programme in chronic, acute and sudden-onset emergencies.
Prior experience on coordination, representation, negotiation,
Experience of preparing successful funding proposals for donors,
Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports and a high level of written and spoken English
Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
The capacity and willingness to be flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
Commitment to the aims and principles of humanitarian coordination.
Familiar with the South Sudan health system and context, as well as working and living experiences in South Sudan
Desirable
Language skills in English
