Role Purpose:Save the Children International - Tanzania is seeking a qualified Youth Empowerment and Livelihoods advisor to support the design and implementation of its new Youth Empowerment and livelihoods programme activities in Kigoma region and across Tanzania.
The Youth Empowerment and livelihoods programming in Kigoma region - north western Tanzania will include cash programming, small business development, agricultural and livestock programming.
Programming will have a strong protection and gender focus; working with youth both boys and girls.
The Youth Empowerment and Livelihoods Advisor, will provide technical support to the effective and successful design, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation and ensure that they meet appropriate standards (SPHERE Standard, LEGS, Protection Principles and Cluster guidelines) of all livelihoods programming in project locations.
Enhancing personal and economic development of youth-by increasing access to market based education and skills training, agricultural and livestock extension and related services through ICT approaches including mobile services, video, radio etc.
as well as traditional approaches (farmer field schools) as well as increasing access to financial services (e.g. financial literacy, generating savings, and access to credit and use of digital payment systems for Cash transfer programming)
Contract Duration: 9 Months
Location: Kigoma, Tanzania
Qualifications and ExperienceMasters in international development, agronomics or related field and significant experience in Youth development and empowerment/livelihood-related field
At least 7 years of experience in resilience/livelihood related field, particularly in designing and implementing programing in agriculture, livestock, small business development and/or cash transfers in fragile states emergency or development context.
At least 3 years of experience in youth empowerment/ livelihood/Cash transfer programming related field, particularly in designing and implementing programing in market related business skills, agriculture, livestock, small business development and/or cash programming in development and humanitarian context.
At least 2 years working in consortia or multi-stakeholder or multi-country programs.
Past experience conducting sectoral assessments/mappings/analysis, documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and compelling write-up of results
A strong track record working with national partner organizations
Experience in strategy, program, and/or proposal development.
Extensive experience working with coordination mechanisms, including the Working Group and Cluster system
Demonstrated training and technical advisory skills, seasoned in capacity-building of national staff
Technical competencies in livelihoods and cash / income generation programming
Ability to lead on market assessments using EMMA and other tools
Strong understanding of gender dynamics within Cash and livelihoods programming and an ability to advise on and develop strategic initiatives to improve gender role and economic positioning within the programme sector
Advanced computer skills such as excel, power point and other analysis tools.
Proficiency in English language, both verbal and written
