Job Description

Background:

Launched in 2015, the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Building the Potential of Youth Activity (POTENTIAL) is implemented by Save the Children Federation, Inc. (SC) and its partners: Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), Facilitator for Change Ethiopia (FC), HUNDEE-Oromo Grassroots Development Initiative (HUNDEE), Professional Alliance for Development in Ethiopia (PADet), and Relief Society of Tigray (REST).

The goal of the Activity is to assist un- and underemployed youth (male and female), aged 15-29 to attain skills, knowledge, and social capital that lead to increased income and economic self-sufficiency, with a particular focus on girls and young women.

YES Services are one-stop service delivery mechanism where young people are given access to information, employability skill training, linkages to employment, coaching, mentoring, technical and business development support during and after their participation in the program.

YES services provide cost-effective and easy accessible services to youth in general and disadvantaged youth in particular. They can potentially serve as social enterprises and can serve the local community by availing demand driven services with fair price.

And In areas with industrial parks, YES services create easy access to youth workforce for business employers;

Overall Purpose of the Consultancy:

The purpose of this consultancy is to carry out an installation in the YES Services. The access points in the centers are not properly installed and the ones that are frequently crush.

In some of the centers the problem concerns the physical installation of the computers and others lost the password and cannot log in because the system requires admin password.

This being the main issue, the program is facing a major setback in handing over the centers to government. Unfortunately Save the Children’s IT department is under staffed to support the reinstallation process.

Thus, the consultancy is important to undertake the reinstallation of 30 YES Service centers and prepare a guideline in order to avoid future difficulties.

Objectives:

To reinstall the access points among 30 YES Service centers, including fixing the password setup so the YES Service facilitator is not required to enter admin password to fix future malfunctions.

To prepare installation guideline.

To identify other problems and include a brief step by step solution in the guideline.

Deliverables of the consultant:

Installation of monitors and thin client in 30 YES Service

Final report after the installation

Prepare guideline on installation process for POTENTIAL

Time frame:

It is anticipated that this consultancy will be starting on August 20th, 2019.

Job Requirements

Education

Diploma or University advanced degree in IT and with sufficient knowledge in Windows operating system and Networking.

Experience

Worked in IT support service

Experienced with installation of windows operating system

Rich knowledge of networking (LAN)

A know-how about thin client devices
