Financial Planning, Reporting and Compliance Manager - SCI Directly Received Funds

The Financial Planning, Reporting and Compliance Manager - SCI Directly received funds will serve as the primary finance focal point on all active SCI Directly received funds in the region, largely funded by UNHCR and WFP donors.

This role will report into the regional Head of Financial Planning and Analysis and will be responsible for regional support and coordination of financial planning, reporting and compliance between Donor, SCI Centre, Regional Office and Country Offices, in line with Save the Children's accounting policies and donor requirements.

The role entails regional financial oversight to the entire life cycle of awards, being involved from identification till end of project with a specific focus on UNHCR and WFP funding.

In this role you will support the capacity building efforts of country office finance teams; provide second-line support to country offices; ensure compliance with SCI/donor policies and procedures, including quality and timely reporting; follow-up regional monitoring actions around improvements; performing quality financial planning and reporting reviews for SCI directly received funds.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of UNHCR and WFP rules and regulations, specifically on proposal budgeting and reporting.

  • Experience providing trainings to both finance and non-finance staff

  • Experience working with general ledger and financial systems

  • Demonstrated experience with international humanitarian (emergency) response at field and/or home office-level

  • Accounting, commence or business administration degree from a leading university.

  • Minimum of 5 years' management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment, of which 3 years within a finance department.

  • Understanding of business and financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, strategic modelling, reporting, analysis and KPIs.

  • Strategic finance business partner with strong influencing skills, sharp business acumen and sound judgment.

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate and present to key stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.

  • Ability to articulate complex information in an easy-to-understand manner.

  • Strong project and change management skills.

  • Solutions focused with the ability to identify weaknesses and drive continuous improvement.

  • Ability to lead, inspire, coach, mentor, delegate appropriately and provide developmental guidance to country offices and other colleagues with no direct line of reporting.

  • Ability to prioritize, plan ahead, and manage a complex and diverse workload with tight deadlines.

  • Self-starter who is willing to go the extra mile to get the job done.

  • Excellent understanding of financial systems and procedures.

  • Excellent understanding of computerized accounts packages, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Cultural awareness and ability to work collaboratively in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds
    and cultures.

  • Understanding of Save the Children's vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives and values.

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.

    Desired Requirements

  • Experience within the NGO / charities sector.

  • Experience of working in an emergency context.

  • Understanding of other multilateral and local donor compliance regulations

    Contract duration: Fixed Term (2 Years)

    Location: Save the Children operates in 12 Countries within the East and Southern Africa Region i.e. South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

    Nairobi (Preferred)

    This role will be based in any Country Office with SCI Presence under National Contract terms
