The Santam BITS division has a new position available for an Intelligent Process Specialist to implement artificial intelligence decision objects into new and existing business processes. This position will be based in Cape Town, Bellville and will report to the Automation Team Leader.

Job Description

The person will design and implement artificial intelligence decision objects for Santam’s internal business units and functional teams. These artificial intelligence decision objects are designed and delivered through a technology platform called Merlynn TOM.

Implementing such Virtual Experts enables the business unit or functional team to create capacity for expert decisions makers.

Business processes are enhanced when these Virtual Experts are implemented and optimized business processes results in quicker turnaround time, better service delivery and more comprehensive decision-making and processing.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Consult with business units and functional teams in order to understand the end-to-end business process across functional units. Identify key decision points where capacity is constrained.

  • Evaluate the decision point and measure the applicability of using Merlynn TOM Virtual Experts. Define the potential business case.

  • Engage with the stakeholders to understand, design and model the decision using the Merlynn TOM platform.

  • Train the Virtual Experts using various techniques including data analyses and data manipulation.

  • Engage with IT teams to implement the Virtual Experts into the existing or new systems.

  • Train business users on using the Merlynn TOM Virtual Experts.

  • Train business users on using the Merlynn TOM platform in a sandpit environment to test concepts and ideas before engaging with the Intelligent Process Specialist.

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Intelligent Process team e.g., establishment of governance and support processes, performance monitoring, benefits tracking and realization of the implemented models and age analysis of the models.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering, Business Management or relevant baccalaureus degree essential.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in business analysis or process engineering essential with a clear track record of analytical and problem-solving
    abilities.

  • Experience in data analyses, including extraction and manipulation of data is essential.

  • Have a strong sense for relationship building and finding rapport.

  • Short term insurance and Contact Centre experience advantageous

  • Exposure to financial Services sector is advantageous

    Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and self-directed towards predefined goals and objectives

  • Facilitation skills to lead workshops to understand business and process problems and requirements.

  • Ability to quickly build an understanding of systems and processes.

  • Financial and business acumen

  • Ability to learn new tools and methodologies to assist with problem solving.

  • Data extraction, manipulation and interpretation. Tools such as Power BI, Qlikview, Business Objects and Excel are commonly used.

  • Good understanding of Merlynn TOM

  • Working of the Atlassian toolset

  • Strong negotiation skills and people experience

  • Knowledge and experience in Agile and Scrum

  • Basic project management abilities are required
