Job Summary:The HR Officer will work under the supervision of the HR Manager to support the HR function in Kenya specifically the expatriate employees in the management the work permit and other visa requirements process.
The incumbent will also engage with the appointed local legal firm to ensure compliance in HR and other organizational matters as well as oversee the recruitment process of Kenya employees.
Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate with departments within and without the organization to gather the required documentation and fee payment necessary to support work permit, special pass and dependent pass applications and cancellations;
Prepare and submit applications and cancellations for work permits, dependents passes, special passes and multi entry visas in support of expatriate employees and interns serving in Kenya;
Engage diplomatically with Government Authorities in particular the NGO board, Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), Department of Immigration and Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in relation to applications and cancellation of work permits etc.;
Collaborate with the HR Manager and appointed local legal representative in disciplinary matters as well as other organizational matters to ensure compliance on legal and regulatory matters;
Maintain up to date file copies of all work permit, special passes and dependent pass applications and cancelations. Keep copies of all formal correspondence documents with governing authorities while ensuring that original work
permits and passes are safely kept;
Oversee the recruitment process for SP Kenya which includes but is not limited to preparing and posting of job adverts, reviewing and shortlisting of applications, facilitating and participating in interviews, conducting reference checks and on boarding new employees;
With a generous and serving spirit perform all other tasks and responsibilities assigned for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse.
Education / Experience Needed
A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management / Diplomatic Relations or any other relevant field;
2 years’ work experience in a similar role in a Non-Profit Organization or Non-Governmental Organization;
A commitment to high standards of professionalism, diplomacy and confidentiality;
Demonstrate a strong ability to co-ordinate and prioritize workload;
Ability to work creatively and independently.
Skills Required
Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft office packages.
Effective reporting skills.
Excellent command of the English language both written and spoken.
Ability to work under pressure.
