Description of Job duties:
Provides leadership and management of the Country Office Finance Department by planning, directing, and controlling the Country Office’s financial resources in accordance with organizational and international accounting standards.
Directly manages 8-12 finance staff in multiple locations; specific duties may include the recruitment, interview, and selection of new staff, as well as performance reviews.
Manages the capacity building initiatives for the Country Office Finance Teams.
Provides timely and accurate analysis of monthly financial reports and financial trends to assist country leadership in performing their duties.
Monitors internal controls and performs periodic assessments to identify risks associated with financial operations within the Country Office.
Identifies areas for financial and administrative improvement, and recommends systems that will improve the overall efficiency of Samaritan’s Purse’s in-country financial operations.
Travels to field sites as needed to facilitate proper implementation of finance-related policies and procedures.
Ensures detailed and accurate records for all financial transactions are maintained in an organized and professional manner.
Works closely with Human Resources to facilitate monthly payroll in
multiple locations.
Coordinates all internal and external Country Office audits on behalf of the Country Director.
Performs regular reviews of the audit reports and follows up on the implementation of audit recommendations.
Job Requirements:
Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university with an emphasis in accounting or related field of study.
5+ years progressive financial management experience in a complex, dynamic environment such as a non-profit organization with operating budgets, diverse funding streams, and substantial financial and material assets, preferred.
One year of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification preferred; or equivalent combination of accounting education and managerial experience.
Knowledgeable on grant accounting and experience in donor funding requirements.
Ability to communicate and interact well with people of different educational, linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
Strong relational skills and financial management experience, with an ability to lead and to contribute to the team.
Proven administrative, leadership, and management ability in the areas of strategic planning and organizational development.
24-month contract with the potential for renewal.
This is an unaccompanied position.
