Our client, Salaam Investment Bank Kenya Ltd is the first Shariah compliant investment bank in Kenya having been licensed by the Capital Markets Authority in November 2018.

They wish to recruit a key pioneer staff (Risk and Compliance Manager).

Job Purpose

The basic role of this position is to report SIB risks, compliance and internal audit matters.

Principle Account-abilities

  • Exercise oversight role on behalf of SIB board and report to the audit committee of the board;
  • Recruit, develop, motivate audit staff independently with the approval of the board;
  • Develop, promote and roll out (with the help of executive team) a risk management framework in SIB;
  • Identify SIB risks, assess SIB risks and recommend appropriate risks response and other risks management strategy;
  • Draft an Audit Charter and seek its approval from the board;
  • Prepare and execute risk based Internal Audit plan which may additionally contain compliance and whistle blowing;
  • Prepare and seek board approval Internal Audit budget and resource plan;
  • Seek board approval for appointment and removal of SIB Risks, compliance and Internal Audit department staff;
  • Seek board approval for remuneration of all employees of SIB Internal Audit department; and
  • Draw and seek approval for scope and resources of various audit exercises/assignments;
  • Liaison with
    the CMA
  • Establish and monitor for correction KPIs in his department

    Person Profile
  • 6-10 years’ experience in financial institution of the following functions;
  • compliance, auditing and risk management and 5 years in a senior management role;
  • Bachelor Degree in Business (B. Com, BBA, BBM, Economics and the like);
  • Have an additional professional qualification in banking, forensic accounting or risk management will be an added advantage;
