DescriptionOur client, Salaam Investment Bank Kenya Ltd is the first Shariah compliant investment bank in Kenya having been licensed by the Capital Markets Authority in November 2018. They wish to recruit a key pioneer staff (Head of Finance).
Job Purpose
The role of this position is to be in charge of preparation of SIB budgets; maintaining accurate financial records, and financial reports; ensure accurate and reliable management information; and other administrative support including HR.
Principle Account-abilities
Manage and periodically review finance department’s strategy in sync with overall SIB strategic plan;
Establish finance department’s sections, help in recruiting and training of finance department staff (of course in liaison with SIB HRM/CEO) in line with SIB long-term requirements;
Development of management Information systems, relating to finance and accounting
Prepare SIB interim, annual and long-term budgets, cost and evaluate SIB properties, projects, events and other assets owned SIB, provided that the assets do not fall under SIB Investments Portfolio held on behalf of SIB clients or as a SIB business unit under the control of SIB portfolio manager;
Develop finance department’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monitor and evaluate finance department staff against the KPIs and ensure smooth running of administrative activities of SIB;
Oversee preparation of financial statements and reporting of the same in accordance with requirements of all relevant readers/stakeholders (preferably as per IFRSs);
Ensure compliance with relevant tax requirements which may include but not limited to assessing, filling/filing and timely payment (where applicable) of all taxes applicable to SIB including development of SIB tax strategy and manage other finance department’s risks and ensure compliance requirements which fall under his department are taken care of including SIB
policies and procedures;
Manage payments and receipts, invest surplus cash, arrange for financing and establish and maintain good banking relations; and
Participate in key decision as a member of Executive Team where he advise on the financial health of the organisation
Ensure customer satisfaction levels within the department
Person Profile
6-10 years’ experience and at least 5 years’ experience in each of the following: taxation, accounting/auditing and financial reporting.
At least 5 years in a senior position
Must be a Certified Accountant with CPA-Kenya
A member of ICPAK in good standing;
Bachelor University Degree in Business (B.Com, BBA, BBM, Economics and the like) with bias in Finance or accounting;
A masters degree in business or in finance will be an added advantage;
Professional Qualifications
Must be a Certified Accountant with CPA-Kenya;
A member of ICPAK in good standing
