Saferworld NGO Finance Officer Jobs in Uganda


Background

Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent violent conflict and build safer
lives. We work with civil society, governments and international organisations to encourage and support effective policies and practices through advocacy, research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others. We are a growing and ambitious organisation with a clear vision and strategy for our future development.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process payments to and from suppliers, staff and any other providers of goods and services to the organisation
  • Capture all financial data in Saferworld’s accounting software
  • Conduct regular bank transactions
  • Prepare and submit financial reports
  • Manage project cash and valuables
  • Participate in the internal and external audit exercises
  • Perform other relevant tasks assigned by management.

    Qualifications

  • A first degree in commerce, business administration, business studies or management with specialisation
    in finance or accounting.
  • Graduate or part-qualified member of a recognised accounting body e.g. ACCA or CPA
  • Sound knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working in finance, administration and/or procurement in a relevant field in NGOs or INGOs
  • Experience of using accounting software especially, QuickBooks
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
